The puppies moved into the “big room” this week. They are exploring more space, starting to play with toys, playing with one another and eating softened kibble now. The intense heat thwarted our plans to take them outside for exploration this weekend, but there is a cold front moving in soon that should provide some better temperatures for outdoor play.
All the pups except for one are eagerly lapping goat’s milk today. Textured milk up next!
All the puppies were over 2.5 lbs as of July 4th. We are expecting eyes to open any time now! Clove is hinting at opening his eyes first and we are keeping watch.
We’ve been taking shifts watching over the litter 24/7 so that Kito doesn’t roll over on to a pup. These are some of our favorites from this week. Eyes and ears are still closed, but we were excited to see Basil, Thyme and Rosemary get their hind legs underneath them today and wobble a bit on all fours before rolling over!
Rosemary reached the summit yesterday with a little help from her friends. Next thing you know, she’ll be climbing out of the puppy box…
Mom and 7 pups are doing well this morning. Labor started around 12:30 AM. Kito delivered her last pup at 5:07 AM and is taking a much deserved nap! 2 Girls, 5 Boys, all ridged! Colors and names:
